NASDAQ 100 Index
by Andrew D. Hyder

Launched in January 1985, the NASDAQ-100 Index represents the largest non-financial domestic and international securities listed on The NASDAQ Stock Market based on market capitalization. The Index reflects companies across major industry groups including computer hardware and software, telecommunications, retail/wholesale trade and biotechnology, (i.e. "Tech stocks"). It does not contain securities of financial companies including investment companies.

The NASDAQ-100 Index is calculated under a modified capitalization-weighted methodology. The methodology is expected to retain in general the economic attributes of capitalization-weighting while providing enhanced diversification. To accomplish this the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASDAQ) will review the composition of the Nasdaq 100 Index on a quarterly basis and adjust the weightings of Index components using a proprietary algorithm.

The Forecast Market Software system predicts the general direction of the NASDAQ 100 index on a daily basis with great historical success and high degree of accuracy. The advantage of this index is that it is relatively more stable than an individual stock while giving investors a greater volatility of movement (and change of direction) than is possible in other large indices such as the Dow Jones Industrial Average. The purpose of Forecasting this index is to take regular consistent small gains when the forecast is correct. This allows investors to compound their gains, often adding significant additional gains.

The FMS Daily Forecast is available free to investors and market traders. The forecasts allow investors to take profits in rising and falling markets making it an ideal market neutral strategy. To subscribe to the Forecast Market Software daily forecast, Click Here.
